The Ugly Truth (2009) -- Raunchy Chick Flick..?

When I first sat down and starting to eat my popcorn, slurping my Pepsi, I was thinking, "Oh God.. not another chick flick.. " You know what i'm talking about.. She is a hopeless romantic.. She meets him.. they fall in love, something happen to ruin it, then the reconcile in the end and live happily ever after.. How many time can you repeat the same story plot over and over and over..etc.?

Surprisingly I this was a tad bit different.. Meet Abby (Katherine Heigl), producer of the local morning news show, hopeless romantic, too involved with her work, and looking for too many standards in the opposite sex to land the right guy. After a bad night of dating, Abby goes home back to her lonily life with her cat, when suddenly she see's a show on the air with repulsive host Mike (Gerard Butler) called "The Ugly Truth", downplaying the way that men really think about women. So Abby Calls in and gives him a piece of her mind.. The next day, desperiate for ratings, the show decided that they are going to need some spice to keep there ratings up, so behind Abby's back they hired host Mike, from "The Ugly Truth", to do a segment twice a week with hopes that this will boost ratings. After realizing who she is, Mike and Abby continuously bump heads on the way the show should be produced.. Finally after so much they make an agreement that if he couldn't help her get a guy, that he would quit the show.. Abby not liking him was gracious enough to take him up on this offer.. With Mikes coaching, and Abby's "Bean" lol.. i mean body, he claims that he is 100% positive that with his antics and expertise, that he can get her any man..

But what makes this so different, is the boundries that they cross throughout this movie to try and explain what really makes the oppisite sex click. Showing you how generalized men and women really are. This film just goes to prove that even though we all look different on the outside, we all function the same inside... to some extent. Sure it is still classified as a chick flick, but between the references used, and situation the characters are put in, it turned out to be a very interesting and amusing story. So if you are the type that likes chick flicks, you will enjoy this, but for the man that gets forced to see this movie, even though they still didn't see the new Transformers.. You accually will get a kick out of this movie. Its better than being forced to see "Sleepless In Seatle"...ZZzzZZzz...
