Surrogates -- (09-25-09) Life As We Know It... Changed.?

You know when you go to the theater as much as i do, you see a lot of movie trailers. When I saw the trailer for Surrogates, me being as geeky as I am, could not remove my eyes from the screen.. Not just because of the crink in my neck for being so close to it... The reason for this was because of the incredibly brilliant plot that the director's and writer's have put together to make this irresistible sci-fi flick..

Just imagine, you live in a murder free world. Nothing can faze you, why you ask..? Well while you are safely locked away in your house.. You live outside your body. These things called "Surrogates" are you.. They live, feel, taste, experience, and even think everything from these Surrogate Robots.. All that you do is simply hook up your to you "Surrogate Machine"(lol idk!), and it creates a walking talking robot of you..

Now think of the possibilities.. Endless huh.? Scared to bungee jump? Always wanted to sky dive? Even the evil sides of things.. Ever rob a bank? Ever wanna be in a shoot out with the cops? Now with the power of these "Surrogates", you can do anything that you ever wanted, without ever being in sin.. If your "Surrogate" dies, you just reload a new one. But as always, with newer technology, they're people are always trying to gain an upper hand on society with there cyber terrorism.

After 15 years of flawless functionality, hacker have found there way into your "Surrogates". What makes this so special.? Well for the first time in all these years, there has been a murder commited.. But how? The man wasn't murdered..? Just died.. when his "Surrogate" died. Now Agent Greer (Bruce Willis), has to come out of his Surrogate Shell to use his wit and intelect to figure out what the hell is going on.. Its been 15 years since he's been in the real world Surrogateless. Who is real? Now with 99% of all of the so-called humans, are just Surrogates posing as human, there is no way to tell.. Can he get to the bottom of this tragic cyber crime, or will a solid metal "Surrogates" take out his fleshy body..?

This movie looks hott..!! I can't wait til it comes out.. It seems to be the type of movie that is going to leave you on the edge of your seat, drawling you into this sci-fi world of living walking talking robots. If this where to really happen it would change history of humanity. There wouldn't be any hero's or historic icons anymore.. Everybody would be able to past there yellow-belliedness with out fear of death or sin. This would be pretty bad in the wrong hands. If and when this happens, I will be sure to leave to a desserted island lol..

The Ugly Truth (2009) -- Raunchy Chick Flick..?

When I first sat down and starting to eat my popcorn, slurping my Pepsi, I was thinking, "Oh God.. not another chick flick.. " You know what i'm talking about.. She is a hopeless romantic.. She meets him.. they fall in love, something happen to ruin it, then the reconcile in the end and live happily ever after.. How many time can you repeat the same story plot over and over and over..etc.?

Surprisingly I this was a tad bit different.. Meet Abby (Katherine Heigl), producer of the local morning news show, hopeless romantic, too involved with her work, and looking for too many standards in the opposite sex to land the right guy. After a bad night of dating, Abby goes home back to her lonily life with her cat, when suddenly she see's a show on the air with repulsive host Mike (Gerard Butler) called "The Ugly Truth", downplaying the way that men really think about women. So Abby Calls in and gives him a piece of her mind.. The next day, desperiate for ratings, the show decided that they are going to need some spice to keep there ratings up, so behind Abby's back they hired host Mike, from "The Ugly Truth", to do a segment twice a week with hopes that this will boost ratings. After realizing who she is, Mike and Abby continuously bump heads on the way the show should be produced.. Finally after so much they make an agreement that if he couldn't help her get a guy, that he would quit the show.. Abby not liking him was gracious enough to take him up on this offer.. With Mikes coaching, and Abby's "Bean" lol.. i mean body, he claims that he is 100% positive that with his antics and expertise, that he can get her any man..

But what makes this so different, is the boundries that they cross throughout this movie to try and explain what really makes the oppisite sex click. Showing you how generalized men and women really are. This film just goes to prove that even though we all look different on the outside, we all function the same inside... to some extent. Sure it is still classified as a chick flick, but between the references used, and situation the characters are put in, it turned out to be a very interesting and amusing story. So if you are the type that likes chick flicks, you will enjoy this, but for the man that gets forced to see this movie, even though they still didn't see the new Transformers.. You accually will get a kick out of this movie. Its better than being forced to see "Sleepless In Seatle"...ZZzzZZzz...

District 9 (2009) -- It Could Happen...LOL!

I just got back from the the movie theaters, packed as usual.. I have been seeing the comercials for District 9, and thought it seemed like a good choice.. Aliens and humans on earth living together living there seperate lives.. But what happens when you clash 2 different races on the same planet, and one race doesn't want to be here to begin with..? Riots, murder, extortion, scam artists, and all other sorts of chaos that deals with these such derastic situations. But most of all retaliation. Can we live in unity and order and set our differences aside..?

What i really liked about this movie is that it was based as a documentary. By doing this it really set the mood for the story. It shows how main character Grey Bradnam (Jason Cope), a UKNR Chief Correspondent, is covering live footage of eviction of District 9, with strict forces, to help control the Alien population. But Grey has no idea what he is getting himself into by a series of unfortunate events happen from just his own smugness and curiosity.

Another thing that i like alot was how the way the Alien technology was portrayed. The power and mystery behind each weapon, not knowing the capabilities that they have. The CG had an awesome Transformerish like effects, which is really impressive for a movie with such a small budget..! Even by using no name actors, i think that this movie may have started a launch to a few careers, by captivating the audiance and drawing them into the story.. As the plot grows you grow a close relationship, and see how each character's personality is really like.. Also the movie leaves the story open for a sequel.. I'm calling it now "District 10" lol... But to make a long story short.. this was an excellent movie that made me actually think and wonder if this could really happen.. I dunno you tell me...;)

Alice In Wonderland (2010) -- A Unique Twist To a Classic..

Back at it again Director Tim Burton (Edward Scissorhands, Nightmare Before Christmas, Sweenie Todd) is putting his creative edge into this world known classic children's story, putting his dark touch to transform this hopefully into an amazing story. With Johnny Deep as the Madd Hatter, this is surely to be another Deep classic. Using his unique diverse styles of acting delievering the Madd Hatter, this is sure to be a very anticipated movie. This movie is accually a cross between Alice In Wonderland and Through The Looking Glass (the second book) By watching the trailer below you can see how brilliently put together this movie is when crossing between live action and cg effects on real life. Burtons wife, Helena Bonham Carter, will be playing the Red Queen, and Anne Hathaway will be playing the White Queen. Mia Wasikowska (Alice) will be an teen compared to a child as it is always portrayed in every rendition of this story. Knowing Mr. Burton's track record, this is going to be a blockbust hands down.. i personally can't wait..

Orphan (2009) -- Pretty Damn Creepy...

One of the most unfortunate situations in life is the lost of an unborn child.. Kate Colman (Vera Farmiga) and husband John Coleman (Peter Sarsgaard) know this feeling too well.. After a long and thoughtful process, the couple decided to adopt a 9 year-old girl named Ester (Isabelle Fuhrman) from a local orphanage.. They are in for more than they expected from this sophisticated and artsy girl. From the moment that they welcome her into there house, nothing but bad things begin to happen. Kate Coleman slowly is starting to see Ester as her true self , but can she convivce those around her?

This movie had me on the edge of my seat. You never expect whats coming around the corner. Excellent movie. I was pleasently surprised by the ending of this movie.. (i would tell ya, but i dont like to ruin movies lol) Go check it out and comment me and let me know what ya think..;)

Funny People (2009) -- Kept Me Laughing The Whole Time..

On one night at the comedy club, Leo Opens up for famous comedian George Simmons without even realizing it. Ira has a tough act to follow.. Harshly roasting the famed comedian, George, liking what he seen, decides to take amature comedian Ira under his wing.. This movie is non-stop comedy from begining to end. I was highly entertained sometimes laughing so hard i felt tears in my eyes..lol Even had some surprising cameo appearances.. (Eminem, RZA, Andy Dick, Norm MacDonald to name a few) I highly recommend this movie if you are into the humorious movies that Judd Apatow has writen and directed. (Superbad, 40 Year-Old Virgin, Anchorman, Pineapple Express) If you can stand the rounchy comedy, then you are in for a treat..! ;)
